The organisation of football in Guinea is structured around a hierarchical league system, which allows clubs to ascend or face relegations based on their performances. This structure is divided into several levels, ranging from professional to amateur football.
At the top of the hierarchy is the Guinée Championnat National, which is the highest level of Guinean football. It comprises 14 professional clubs that compete for the title of Guinea Champion. The bottom three teams in the standings at the end of the season are relegated to the Ligue 2, which also includes 14 clubs. The top two teams from this division are promoted to the Guinée Championnat National, while the bottom three descend to the Ligue Nationale.
The Ligue Nationale, the third tier, hosts semi-professional and amateur teams. The best teams from this division have the opportunity to move up to Ligue 2. Beyond the Ligue Nationale, the system continues with regional and local divisions, highlighting the depth and richness of Guinean football at all levels of competition.
