Organisation of Football in Zimbabwe

The organisation of football in Zimbabwe is structured around a hierarchical league system, allowing clubs to ascend or descend based on their performances. This structure is divided into several tiers, ranging from professional football to amateur football.

At the pinnacle of the hierarchy is the Premier Soccer League, which is the highest level of Zimbabwean football. It comprises 18 professional clubs vying for the title of Zimbabwean champions. The bottom two clubs in the standings at the end of the season are relegated to the Division One, which also includes several clubs spread across four regions.

The Division One, the second tier of Zimbabwean football, is subdivided into four regional leagues. The champions of each league are promoted to the Premier Soccer League. Poorly ranked clubs may be relegated to the Division Two, which is organised at the provincial level.

The Division Two, the third tier of Zimbabwean football, is organised into several provincial leagues. The champion clubs from each province may be promoted to Division One. Poorly ranked clubs may be relegated to the Division Three.

The Division Three, the fourth tier of Zimbabwean football, is organised at the district level. The champion clubs from each district may be promoted to Division Two. Poorly ranked clubs may be relegated to the Division Four.

The Division Four, the fifth tier of Zimbabwean football, is the last level organised at the national level. Beyond Division Four, the system continues with local divisions, highlighting the depth and richness of Zimbabwean football at all levels of competition.
