The Big League is the second tier of Ugandan football. High-performing clubs in this league have the opportunity to ascend to the Uganda Super League, while poorly ranked clubs may be relegated to lower tiers.

Beneath the Big League, there are several levels of regional and local competition. These leagues allow clubs to nurture their talents and progress through the ranks of Ugandan football.
