Organisation of Football in Tunisia

The organisation of football in Tunisia is structured according to a hierarchical league system, allowing clubs to ascend or face relegations based on their performances. This structure is divided into several levels, ranging from professional to amateur football.

At the top of the hierarchy is the Tunisian Professional League 1, which is the highest level of Tunisian football. It comprises 14 professional clubs that compete for the title of Tunisian champion. The bottom three teams in the standings at the end of the season are relegated to the Tunisian Professional League 2, which also includes 14 clubs. The top two teams from this division are promoted to the Tunisian Professional League 1, while the bottom three descend to the Tunisian National League A.

The Tunisian National League A, the third tier, hosts 14 teams. The top two teams are promoted to the Tunisian Professional League 2, and the bottom three are relegated to the Tunisian National League B. This level is subdivided into two groups of 12 clubs each, operating on the same principle of promotion and relegation with the Tunisian National League A and the Tunisian Regional League I.

The Tunisian Regional League I, the fifth level of Tunisian football, is organised into several regional groups. It includes amateur clubs as well as reserve teams from professional outfits. Beyond the Tunisian Regional League I, the system continues with regional and local divisions, highlighting the depth and richness of Tunisian football at all levels of competition.
