Organisation of Football in North Macedonia

The organisation of football in North Macedonia is structured according to a hierarchical league system, allowing clubs to ascend or descend based on their performances. This structure is divided into several levels, ranging from professional football to amateur football.

At the top of the hierarchy is the First Football League of North Macedonia, which is the highest level of Macedonian football. It comprises 10 professional clubs that compete for the title of North Macedonian champion. The bottom two clubs in the standings at the end of the season are relegated to the Second Football League of North Macedonia, which also includes 10 clubs. The top two clubs from the Second League are promoted to the First League, while the bottom three are relegated to the Third Football League of North Macedonia.

The Third Football League of North Macedonia, the third level of Macedonian football, is divided into three regional groups. The clubs at the top of each group are promoted to the Second League, while the clubs at the bottom of each group are relegated to the Fourth Football League of North Macedonia.

The Fourth Football League of North Macedonia, the fourth level of Macedonian football, is organised into several regional groups. It includes amateur clubs as well as reserve teams of professional clubs. The clubs at the top of each group are promoted to the Third League.

Beyond the Fourth League, the system continues with regional and local divisions, highlighting the depth and richness of Macedonian football at all levels of competition.
