Organisation of Football in Moldova

The organisation of football in Moldova is structured across several levels, allowing clubs to ascend or descend based on their performance. This structure is divided into three main tiers, ranging from professional football to amateur football.

At the pinnacle of the hierarchy is the Divizia Națională, which is the highest level of Moldovan football. It comprises 10 professional clubs that compete for the title of Moldovan champion. The bottom two clubs in the standings at the end of the season are relegated to the Divizia A, which also includes 10 clubs. The top two teams from Divizia A are promoted to the Divizia Națională, while the bottom three are relegated to the Divizia B.

The Divizia B, the third tier of Moldovan football, is subdivided into two groups of 10 clubs each, operating on the same principle of promotion and relegation with Divizia A. The top two teams from each group are promoted to Divizia A.

Beyond the Divizia B, there are regional and local leagues that allow amateur clubs to participate in organised competitions. These leagues provide an opportunity for clubs to develop their talents and progress within the Moldovan league system.
