The organisation of football in the Dominican Republic is structured across several levels, allowing clubs to progress or regress based on their performance. This structure is divided into two main tiers.

At the pinnacle of the hierarchy is the Liga Dominicana de Fútbol, which is the highest level of football in the Dominican Republic. It comprises several clubs that compete for the title of champion of the Dominican Republic. The clubs at this level enjoy high visibility and participate in international competitions.

The second tier of Dominican football is the Segunda División. This league is made up of clubs that aspire to ascend to the Liga Dominicana de Fútbol. The clubs at this level are primarily semi-professional and vie for promotion to the first division.
