Organisation of Football in Cuba

The organisation of football in Cuba is structured around a hierarchical league system, allowing clubs to ascend or descend based on their performances. This structure is divided into several levels, ranging from professional football to amateur football.

At the top of the hierarchy is the Campeonato Nacional de Fútbol de Cuba, which is the highest level of Cuban football. It brings together several clubs that compete for the title of champion of Cuba. The least performing clubs at the end of the season may be relegated to a lower level, although the relegation system is not always systematically applied.

Below the Campeonato Nacional de Fútbol de Cuba, there are several regional and provincial leagues that constitute the lower levels of Cuban football. These leagues are often seen as training grounds for young Cuban players, who can then be promoted to the clubs of the national league.

Due to various constraints, including financial ones, football in Cuba does not have the same hierarchical structure as in many other countries. However, the country continues to produce talented players who represent Cuba on the international stage.
