Organisation of Football in Bolivia

The organisation of football in Bolivia is structured across several levels, allowing clubs to ascend or descend based on their performance. This structure spans from professional football to amateur football.

At the pinnacle of the hierarchy is the División de Fútbol Profesional, which is the highest level of Bolivian football. It comprises 14 professional clubs vying for the title of Bolivian champion. The clubs at the bottom of the ranking at the end of the season face the risk of relegation to the División de Ascenso.

The División de Ascenso is the second tier of Bolivian football. It is subdivided into three regional leagues: the Liga del Fútbol Profesional Boliviano, the Asociación Beniana de Fútbol, and the Asociación Chuquisaqueña de Fútbol. The clubs leading these leagues may be promoted to the División de Fútbol Profesional, while the clubs at the bottom of the ranking face the risk of relegation to the Primera A.

The Primera A is the third tier of Bolivian football. It is organised by the football associations of each department in Bolivia. The clubs leading these leagues may be promoted to the División de Ascenso, while the clubs at the bottom of the ranking face the risk of relegation to the Primera B.

The Primera B is the fourth tier of Bolivian football. It is also organised by the football associations of each department in Bolivia. The clubs leading these leagues may be promoted to the Primera A.

Beyond the Primera B, the system continues with regional and departmental divisions, highlighting the depth and richness of Bolivian football at all levels of competition.
